11/14/1969 Apollo 12
The last moon flight of the decade, Apollo 12 began on November 14th, with an inauspicious launch in which the spacecraft was hit twice by lightning. Apollo 12 landed 600 feet from the site of the earlier Surveyor spacecraft. After 31 and a half hours on the moon, Apollo 12 returned to the earth. The flight was piloted by Charles Conrad, Richard F. Gordon and Alan Bean.
