Islam As a Religion

 

Islam is a strictly monotheistic religion. The word Islam means "submission to God". Muslims call God "Allah" which is the same God as the God of Judaism and Christianity. They believe that Muhammed is God's final prophet.
The Koran, God's revelations to Muhammed, require that every Muslim recite: "There is no God but Allah, and Muhammed is his prophet."
A Muslim prays five times a day, must fast and pray during Ramadan, and must make one pilgrimage to Mecca.
The Koran also prescribes a strict code of personal behavior. Amougn other requirement a Muslim must not drink alchoholic beverages, or eat pork
