Douglas Observation Prototype (designation uncertain)

The existing label 'Douglas X033' appears to be a garbled designation that cannot be matched with confidence to a documented aircraft. It most plausibly refers to an experimental member of Douglas's prolific 1920s-1930s observation series, the same lineage that produced the XO-2, O-2, and O-25, all two-seat biplane observation aircraft built by the Douglas Aircraft Company for the U.S. Army. No authoritative source documents a Douglas 'XO-3' or 'O-33' as a distinct, produced type, so the original 'X033' is likely a transcription error.

In keeping with the rule never to invent data, no specifications are asserted here beyond the firm attribution to Douglas and the observation biplane category. The label should be corrected to a verified Douglas O-series designation once the intended aircraft is identified.
