Con Thien 1967

On the morning of May 8th the North Vietnamese fired 300 rounds of artillery and mortars at the Marine base at Con Thien. Using bangalore torpedoes they then breached the perimeter and attacked the base. Hand to hand combat ensured, when it was over 44 Marines were dead as were 177 North Vietnamese who were forced to withdraw. .
