That meeting grew to an extended meeting on the state of nuclear arms talks with Dean Rusk McGeorge Bund and other members of the foreign policy team joined the discussion. The President and the First Lady traveled to the Marine Air Terminal to greet the Shah of Iran and his wife upon their arrival for a state visit. After accompanying the Shah to Blair House and having lunch the President headed to the State Department to deliver his 30th news conference. At this conference he attacked the Steel Companies for raising the price of steel. The President then met separately with the Ambassadors of Argentina and Venezuela. In the evening the President gave a state dinner in honor of the Shah of Iran and his wife. |

Northampton for an overnight cruise to view fleet exercises. |
