| President Washington sent three expeditions against the Indians in the Northwest (who were being aided by the British). The first two failed, the third one, led by General Wayne, succeeded in decisively defeating the Indians at the Battle of Fallen Timbers. The Indians then agreed to evacuate the area that became the state of Ohio. |
