French film star Brigitte Bardot was born in Paris France on September 28, 1934. As a child Bardot studied dance. In 1947 she was accepted to Conservatoire de Paris. At 15 she also began modeling and appeared on the cover of ELLE magazine. Her first film role was Le Trou Normand. She became an international sensation with the , And God Created Woman in 1956. Renowned as a sex symbol, Bardot's efforts to create a more dramatic image were less than successful. Although her film career eventually wound down, Bardot remained a highly visible celebrity, due to her involvement in the animal rights' movement.
